There is no Cloud.

There is no cloud. It is just someone else’s computer.

That always makes me laugh. It is referring to cloud computing. “We’re going to move our servers to the cloud; it’s gonna be HUGE.” Okay, but do you know what that means? Marcelo Oliveira explains it well in his post so I will just direct you there: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/cloud-really-just-someone-elses-computer-marcelo-oliveira/

Briefly, the concept of a computing cloud is more than just relocating your server from onsite in your building to a data center that puts it “on the web”. The cloud is supposed to be a network of computers managed in such a way that adjustments to the specs of your server or your share of a server can be increased and decreased on the fly without needing to add new physical hardware.

I wonder if anyone has ever looked to the sky and seen a cloud that they thought looked like a computer?
